Look of the week: hello, swimsuit!

Good day everyone. Today I want to present you a really summer look of the week: with a swimsuit! Hope you will like this style!
Lets begin!

Swimsuits
1) The first one is a two-piece swimsuit. It is a real retro! The style is 50`s, really glamourous! The most important thing about this suimsuit is the bottom halg, it has a hight waist and, as you can guess, it can hide a lot :) Nobody`s perfect! :)

2) And another one, one-piece swimsuit. Extremely cute, with cherries :)

Will suit perfectly on those, who have a big breast. And sich a top can visually make your arms look slimmer, if you have troubles with that.

Shoes:
I found one pair of shoes that suits to both swimsuits. It is really comfortable and cute. And for the summer :)

I think they are really pretty :) If I had had an oportunity, I would buy them immediately :)

Sunglasses:
Classic retro shape! Suits perfectly to both swimsuits! What do you think?

But I should warn you that this shape is tricky, If you have something like a square or a round shape of your head, then you have more chances that such shape is OK for you.

Retro-swimsuits: Hello, summer!

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to talk to you about retro swimsuits! It`s summer, it`s hot, and we want  to swim! :)
Hope you`ll like this information about the history of retro-swimsuits!
Let``s begin!
And, by the way, I`ve passed my first exam on A+ :)
So:

In the very beginning of the century so called “bathing clothes” were just that – clothes! Swimming dresses were made of lighter fabric than traditional dresses, but they still had full skirts, and even stockings! Definitely not the most fashionable pieces, and not for swimming!

Portland Knitting Company was founded by Carl Jantzen, Roy Zehntbauer, and John Zehntbauer in 1910. They began offering “swimsuits” to their regular customers. A big selling point for these early suits, of course, was that you could actually swim. “Jantzens” became highly popular thanks to the fit. The company officially changed its name to Jantzen Knitting Mills in 1918.

Swimwear in the 1920s had a look similar to that of a mini-dress, often referred to as a maillot. Bathing caps made from latex rubber completed the look!

By the 1930s, designers were looking for ways to improve the maillot. Elsa Schiaparelli added swimsuits to her collection in 1928, but brought them a step further when she introduced the backless maillot. The suit also featured a patented, invisible bra to enhance a woman’s shape. These improvements in style and function helped cultivate the early glamour of bathing beauties.

1940s swimsuits came in both one-piece and two-piece varieties. Featuring flattering sweetheart and square necklines up top paired with high-waisted shorts below, these suits were perfect for fun in the sun! Suits of this era also featured strategic cut-outs, as manufacturers had limited resources during wartime.

Glamour swimwear really took off in the 1950s and 60s. Suits were modeled by the  pin-up girls. ’50s styles featured ruffles, rhinestones, lace, and other ladylike touches. In an interview with Collectors Weekly, vintage swimwear collector Pam Fierro said, “Vintage swimsuits, especially ones from the ’50s, are very corset-like. They’re made with boning and zippers and elastic to help accentuate your assets.”
I don`t want to go further, just because that is the period that I`m specialized it :) That is why that`s it! Hope you liked this historical review on the style and the development of the swimsuit!
Have fun :)

P.S. Just imagine, how difficult it was to have a wool-swimsuit...scratchy, at least :(

Look of the week: Hello, summer!

Hello, my dear readers!
Today I want to present you the look of the week! It is for the summer, its shiny abd bright, and its extremely cute! Hope you`ll like it!

Dress
As I said, I`m inspired by the summer, that is why I decided to make something bright and shiny. This dress will be perfect for going out, talking ti friends and even dating!

Here is the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Womens-Retro-Vintage-Lace-Sleeveless-Pleated-Skirted-Chiffon-Party-Evening-Dress-/370824444758?pt=US_CSA_WC_Dresses&var=&hash=item5656dbfb56
I think this dress is extremely cute. It will suit perfect even to those girls, who haven`t got a well-defined waist. The only thing that I want to warn you about, it`s the sleeves of the dress. They are quite short, and If your hands are not in a very good shape (like mine :)), be attentive wearing such things.

Shoes
Very good summer shoes, without the high heel, because at summer we walk a lot :)

I really love these shoes! They are so nice and comfortable! And they are made of the cloth, and it would not  shafe your feet.

Bag
Maybe I was inspired by the previous post where I have mentioned "boaters" that was made of straw, but I decided to put here a straw bag :) Here it is!

I think it is an extremely cute, small women`s bag :) What do you think?))

1920s men`s fashion. Oh my god, it`s Gatsby style!

Hello, dear friends! Today I want to talk about the men`s fashion! Lets talk about 1920`s :) Frankly speaking, I really adore the men`s fashion of that period, because it`s so elegant and beautiful!
Let me show you how it looked like! Lets begin.

The first thing that we should know is that it was a really difficult time for the whole world. Cultural changes after World War I were inevitable, and men's fashion in the 1920s went through as strong a transformation as women's. But we know less about it :) The Jazz Age gave everyone a lot of inspiration, and it was reflected in clothing.

The war changed attitudes and did much to level the classes of people. Young men began to wear baggy clothing plus fours in size and wide-legged trousers. Now suits were much less sophisticated with just slim, unpadded jackets over the trousers, and fabrics and colors were lighter and brighter, reflecting the brightness of the music, theatre and good times.

For the work or business men of all ages wore suits. However they were now cut (earlier they used to be very long and  broad) to give men a more slim look. Tight jackets with sloping shoulderswere fashionable and very popular. Ties became more casual and at the same time bow ties were fashionable too. It depended more on the financial position of the person.

And of cource the fashion of that period was influenced by sport. For example the style worn by golf stars Bobby Jones and Walter Hagen, became popular too. As tennis grew in popularity, the white trousers and V-neck sweaters became popular among young people.
But the biggest influence was produced by popular football players like Red Grange. Why? Because he brought the raccoon coat and the camel hair polo coat into the 20`s fashion mainstream.

But the main change was in the formal clothing. The main aim was to make stronger silhouette and more striking look overall. Cuffs were added to trousers to draw more attention to the shoes. Instead of suspenders, waist-slimming belts were popular to hold slick new trousers.

The baggy trousers were called "Oxford bags," because they had originated at Oxford University.
That is the way how they looked:

Despite the fact that baggy trousers were popular, men's fashion in the 1920s changed as regularly as women's did. Thanks to jazz, long, tight-waisted jackets and skinny trousers became popular.
And this is the style which I`m a big fan of:

No man of any class didn`t go out  without a hat. All of us know that popular straw hat or the shallow, flattop, stiff-brimmed hats called either boaters or skimmers, depending on the brim's width. Autumn and winter were all about the felt fedora, worn with panache by gangsters but beloved of all men for their style and comfort.

Another big change was in shoes. Single color boots and spats were changed for shoes in shades of brown and white or black and white. Even those who didn't like jazz wanted to look a part of the Jazz Age.

And that`s it! Hope you liked it! Have any comments, additions? Do not hesitate to ask and write!
Have a nice day!
