Modern pin-up models: What has changed?

Hello everyone!today I wanted to show you some pictures of modern-pin up girls and do discuss what has changed since 50-60`s. It is really interesting to know how the retro style has developed and how is it interpreted nowadays!
Let`s Begin!

 

First of all, the most interesting feature of modern pin-up models is that they are all tattooed. They have sleeves, the whole back and legs tattooed, and it is quite surprising how different tattoes can be combined with the classic pin-up style. It looks different, but facinating.

 

 

The next point is the pircing. Pin-up girls now have a lot of piercings, septums, madonna`s and monroe`s, and sometimes it looks great.

Then the hair. Now a lot of girls dye and bleach them and use the most incredilbe colours. Red is the most popular among them, but you can also see pink, lilac, blue etc. A few models use  thir natural haircolour.

 

 

 

Makeup became much brighter and heavier. Fake eyelashes are videly spread.

Dresses are different too. A lot of girls wear corsets, they are extremely popular. And really high highheels.

Summing up, we can say that the modern pin-up girl is more radical, I mean that her look became much more grotesque and more sexy. What do you think?

Retro-swimsuits: Hello, summer!

Hello everyone! Today I wanted to talk to you about retro swimsuits! It`s summer, it`s hot, and we want  to swim! :) 
Hope you`ll like this information about the history of retro-swimsuits!

So:

In the very beginning of the century so called “bathing clothes” were just that – clothes! Swimming dresses were made of lighter fabric than traditional dresses, but they still had full skirts, and even stockings! Definitely not the most fashionable pieces, and not for swimming!

Portland Knitting Company was founded by Carl Jantzen, Roy Zehntbauer, and John Zehntbauer in 1910. They began offering “swimsuits” to their regular customers. A big selling point for these early suits, of course, was that you could actually swim. “Jantzens” became highly popular thanks to the fit. The company officially changed its name to Jantzen Knitting Mills in 1918.

Swimwear in the 1920s had a look similar to that of a mini-dress, often referred to as a maillot. Bathing caps made from latex rubber completed the look!

By the 1930s, designers were looking for ways to improve the maillot. Elsa Schiaparelli added swimsuits to her collection in 1928, but brought them a step further when she introduced the backless maillot. The suit also featured a patented, invisible bra to enhance a woman’s shape. These improvements in style and function helped cultivate the early glamour of bathing beauties.

1940s swimsuits came in both one-piece and two-piece varieties. Featuring flattering sweetheart and square necklines up top paired with high-waisted shorts below, these suits were perfect for fun in the sun! Suits of this era also featured strategic cut-outs, as manufacturers had limited resources during wartime.

Glamour swimwear really took off in the 1950s and 60s. Suits were modeled by the  pin-up girls. ’50s styles featured ruffles, rhinestones, lace, and other ladylike touches. In an interview with Collectors Weekly, vintage swimwear collector Pam Fierro said, “Vintage swimsuits, especially ones from the ’50s, are very corset-like. They’re made with boning and zippers and elastic to help accentuate your assets.”

I don`t want to go further, just because that is the period that I`m specialized it :) That is why that`s it! Hope you liked this historical review on the style and the development of the swimsuit!

Dress
As I said, I`m inspired by the summer, that is why I decided to make something bright and shiny. This dress will be perfect for going out, talking ti friends and even dating!

I think this dress is extremely cute. It will suit perfect even to those girls, who haven`t got a well-defined waist. The only thing that I want to warn you about, it`s the sleeves of the dress. They are quite short, and If your hands are not in a very good shape (like mine :)), be attentive wearing such things.

Shoes
Very good summer shoes, without the high heel, because at summer we walk a lot :)

I really love these shoes! They are so nice and comfortable! And they are made of the cloth, and it would not  shafe your feet.

Retro-style: Part 1 - Dresses

Hello, my dear readers! Today I want to tell you about the dresses of that epoch (20's-30's), about the style, cut, etc. Let`s begin!

20's

Firstly, let's discuss the atmosphere of that period: it was a breaking point in the history of fashion. The first world war passed, and it produced a great influence on the people's mind. Corsets, puffy skirts were useless then. Women wanted to work, and they needed a proper clothing for the work. So, there was a new trend in fashion, that was called " the Chicago Style". The main features ot this style were: short and wavy hair, dresses with  a low waistline, unsymmetrical hem, big cutout on the back, straight cut.

We can see it: no corsets, straight lines (it looks like unisex). It was fashionable to be thin, to have flat chest and no big hips. It looked more like a  men's clothes and a men's style. And we can see that the dresses were quite short. 

And, of course, the source of all the fashion ideas was Coco Chanel. She created her famous "Little black dress", it has quite a simple cut, but was made of luxurious materials. 

30`s

This period was very complicated, especially for America. There was a crisis, unemployment was much higher that usual. But (!) women decided to change their minds and to return to the elegant style. The main criteria for the dresses were femininity and elegance. Dresses underlined the shape of the body,slim and slender body was fashionable. But the style Chicago wasn`t forgotten, and a lot of women continued wearing hats and accessories of that period; their hairstyle changed a little bit, the curls were bigger and hair were longer. To be more precise, let`s remember Marlene Dietrich, Katharine Hepburn and others. They were women, and they tried to show it:
